Careers/Pathways

Effective careers and transition programs are key components of our College’s strategy to improve student engagement and increase the number of our students who complete their schooling with us, then continue into the University or TAFE program that they have planned for. Our students are provided with pathways counseling and programs from year 9 to help them to develop the knowledge and skills they need to manage their future career paths and succeed in whatever area they choose.

The Pathways Team includes our Pathways & Careers Coordinator who is available to assist students with job applications, interview techniques, University and TAFE course information and prerequisites. Subject advice is also provided for students through course counseling from year 9 through to their final year of VCE.

Year 10 Work Experience Program

All Year 10 students are expected to participate in our Work Experience Program during term 2.

Work experience provides students with the opportunity to learn about the world of work by becoming part of it and observing through firsthand experience the issues and challenges faced by both employers and employees in today’s workforce. An information pack outlining the requirements and necessary forms students need to arrange their Work Experience placement is sent home in the mail.

Students are expected to contact potential employers to organise their own work experience. Some of the areas students may like to explore include office administration, design, education, engineering, entertainment, health, hospitality and sales.

We encourage you to support your child’s placement in an industry of their choice. Research has shown that work experience provides students with a valuable opportunity to connect to future employers for part time work and assists students in their consideration of future career options.
