Transition from Grade 6 to Year 7 can be an exciting, yet also stressful time for students and parents.
To make this transition as smooth as possible, our Transition Coordinator, in conjunction with the Year 7 Coordinator, works closely with primary schools, their teachers, students, parents and carers to ensure that by the time students commence at Mullauna, they are familiar with the school and many of the teachers who will be working with them. This includes visits to primary schools, a special pre-orientation day for students from outlying primary schools and orientation day. Once they reach our College as Year 7s, transition continues with the Year 7 orientation camp and the beginning of our peer support program for our Year 7s.
Mullauna College also offers several programs to local primary schools throughout the year that provide Grade 5 and 6 students with the opportunity to visit the College well before commencing Year 7. These include Grade 5 Discovery Days, Grade 6 Sports Carnival and author visits.
If you would like to know more about our transition program, please contact our Transition Coordinator, Jeff McMillan, on 9874 3422.
