Careers & Pathways at Mullauna College
Effective careers and transition programs are key components of our College’s strategy to improve student engagement and increase the number of our students who complete their schooling with us, then continue into the University or TAFE program that they have planned for. Our students are provided with pathways counselling and programs from year 7 to help them to develop the knowledge and skills they need to manage their future career paths and make and implement informed choices about school and post school options.
The Careers Coordinator, Mr Nik Smith, is available to assist students with job applications, interview techniques, University and TAFE course information, prerequisite planning, subject selection advice and much more!

It is a unique opportunity for students to learn more about their strengths and abilities while exploring potential career options – giving them the confidence to start taking control of their future.
As part of the program, students complete a series of questionnaires and quizzes accessed through the Morrisby website. They then discuss their results with a Morrisby-trained Careers Consultant in a 30-minute interview.

Year 10 Work Experience Program
-
All Year 10 students participate in our Work Experience Program during term 2.
Work experience provides students with the opportunity to learn about the world of work by becoming part of it and observing through firsthand experience the issues and challenges faced by both employers and employees in today’s workforce.
Students are expected to contact potential employers to organise their own work experience. Some of the areas students may like to explore include office administration, design, education, engineering, entertainment, health, hospitality and sales.
We encourage you to support your child’s placement in an industry of their choice. Research has shown that work experience provides students with a valuable opportunity to connect to future employers for part time work and assists students in their consideration of future career options.
